Dan:

Thanks for your note.

Yes, I am researching the Goodwin family, the earliest I
have in William and Ruth Goodwin and their eight children in
Dearborn County, Indiana. They moved to Crawford County,
Illinois in about 1821-22. Their last child (Hiram) was born
there in 1824. That is also the year that Ruth died and
William remarried Elizabeth York, and they had three
children.

Son William J. Goodwin (born May 1817) came to Oregon
Territory in 1849, followed by brother Moses (born in March
1821) in 1850. They both lived in Clark County WT, with
William J. moving to the Dalles in about 1880, and Moses
moving to Pendleton in about 1861.

William J. married Catherine Mary Roberts in Parke County,
IN on 17 Feb 1839. They had the following children (that lived):

-William J. Jr. born 11 Dec 1839 in Crawford County, IL,
died 25 May 1906 in Yakima, WA, buried in Union Gap cemetery.

---Married Emeline unknown about 1858, in Clark County, WT.
-----One child Lucy Jane, born about 1859, Clark County, WT.

-John Wesley born 12 Aug 1843 in Crawford County, IL, died 2
Jan 1924 in Yakima, WA, buried Tahoma Cemetary Lot 1, SE
Corridor, Blk 235, Section C.

---Married Catherine Rebecca "Kate" Irby (d/o Charles S.
Irby and Margaret Birchfield) in about 1869 in Clark County,
WA. She died 25 Jan 1950, in Pe Ell, Lewis County, WA in a
nursing home. She is buried in Yakima, WA, Tahoma Cemetary
Lot 2, SE Corridor, Blk 235, Section C.

-----They had four children:
-----------Alva Edward born Jan 5, 1870 in WA, died 16 Aug
1940, buried Tahoma Lot 2, SE Corridor, Blk 206A, Section J

-----------Lou E. "Lulu" born about 1878 in WA, died in
1960, buried Tahoma Cemetary Lot 3, SE Corridor, Blk 235,
Section C

-----------Grace born 16 Oct 1881 in Union Gap, WA, died 19
Feb 1927 in Long Beach, CA, buried Tahoma Cemetary Lot 4, SE
Corridor, Blk 235, Section C

-----------Carl Owen (my grandfather) born 18 Jun 1890 in
Yakima. Died 18 Jun 1890, buried in Tacoma, WA

-Ruth Jane "Jennie" born 1848 in Indiana?, died 25 Mar 1931
in Bellingham, WA, buried Bayview Cemetery, Whatcom County,
WA.

---Married W. Kelley (Kelly)? in 1867 in OR or WA. Later
married Henry H. Draper, no children
---------One child, Minnie C. Kelley, born 1868 in Clark
County, WA, died in Bellingham, WA 13 Nov 1924, buried
Bayview Cemetery, Whatcom County, WA.

That's what I have (plus a lot more) on this family. I have
pics of the headstones, death certs on many, and some
personal pic. You are welcome to any of it.

However, I believe you are researching a different family. I
don't think this Goodwin family is related to your Goodwins.
While doing this research I ran across your Goodwin group
many times but never found any connection. Your group is the
subject of a lot of internet history, fairly well documented
about their settling in the Yakima Valley.

Some of your dates for John W. I believe are for my John W.,
probably, but I do make mistakes and have my "senior
moments".

I have all the items I have gathered from my Goodwins on the
www @ the URL below: http://www.foothill.net/~jbrass/genealogy/goodwin

You are welcome to browse any of that if you desire.

I also have a large two volume set "History of Yakima
Valley". If you send me some names I will see if they are in
the index and send the info.

It seems as though we corresponded before, however I could
not find anything in my old mail files.

Please let me know what your thoughts are after reviewing
this info.

Thanks,

John Wesley Brassfield,
son of Twila Avonne Goodwin Brassfield
daughter of Carl Owen Goodwin,
son of John Wesley Goodwin
son of William J. Goodwin
son of William and Ruth Goodwin
