He served with Company F of the 118th, which was composed solely of Delphos men, based out of Ohio. His military service: Bet. 22 Aug 1862–09 May 1865 Union Allegiance, Company F, 118 Ohio Infantry, Rank: Private Compiled Service Record as received from NARA some years ago,found that several of the pages in his record give May 10, 1865, as the date of death and burial. However, the Memorandum from Prisoner of War Records states that he died May 9, 1865, of typhoid fever
