Notes for Equilla Grant (Quill) Gerking


Note: Quill was rasied by his grandmother, Nancy Gerking. He went to Republic, WA because of a gold strike in the area. Many people were living and Quill walked most of the way. He liked the country and settled 17 miles from republic, towards Tonasket, on summit of the mountains. He called it ( Summit Ranch ) and built a long log house and a log barn. Later he built a frame house. Was a very active young man, had a lovely tenor voice and would play the guitar and sing. Had blond hair and blue eyes. this information was supplied from a niece who was very fond of him.
